Job summary

Crunch Fitness - JFF North America is seeking a Fitness Service Technician to inspect, maintain, repair, and install gym equipment across multiple sites. This hands-on role combines mechanical skills with strong customer service to minimize downtime and ensure member safety.

The position requires 1–3 years in mechanical repair or facilities maintenance within the fitness industry, with certification or willingness to obtain certifications. Travel between locations is expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of mechanical repair or facilities maintenance experience in the fitness industry.
  • Familiarity with major commercial fitness equipment brands (e.g., Life Fitness, Technogym, Precor, Matrix, StarTrak).
  • Must be or willing to be certified.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to read schematics and service manuals.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Able to lift 50–75 lbs and work on knees or ladders as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for multi-site coverage.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Crunch will provide additional training and certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on cardio, strength, and functional training equipment.
  • Respond to service requests and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of service calls, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Ensure tools and replacement parts are organized and stocked for efficient use.
  • Coordinate with facilities teams as needed.
  • Assist with the delivery, installation, and calibration of new fitness equipment.
  • Uphold safety and cleanliness standards in maintenance areas.
  • Collaborate with fitness staff to report recurring issues or identify high-use equipment needing support.
  • Recommend equipment upgrades or replacement as needed.

Position Summary

The Fitness Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of fitness equipment to ensure optimal performance and member safety across all gym locations. This hands-on role requires a combination of mechanical aptitude, customer service, and strong time management to minimize equipment downtime and support a high-quality member experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on cardio, strength, and functional training equipment (e.g., treadmills, ellipticals, selectorized machines, racks).
  • Respond to service requests and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Accurately diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of service calls, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Ensure all tools and replacement parts are organized and stocked for efficient use.
  • Coordinate with facilities teams as needed.
  • Assist with the delivery, installation, and calibration of new fitness equipment.
