Job summary

Southern HealthCare Management in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support facility operations and help maintain a safe, efficient workplace. You will work with the Maintenance Director and HR to understand goals, participate in routine maintenance, and ensure equipment and systems function reliably.

You will join a team committed to growth, teamwork, and delivering high-quality service to residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
• Experience with facilities maintenance and repair.
• Familiarity with logic controllers and electrical systems.
• Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Basic welding skills preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Leadership skills to supervise contractors and vendors during maintenance projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the maintenance and repair of facility equipment and systems
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues
• Use computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track work orders and document repairs
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
• Fabricate and weld components as needed
• Assist in the installation of new equipment or systems
• Supervise contractors and vendors during maintenance projects
