Job summary

The Timken Company in Illinois is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair equipment, and facility systems. You will perform diverse tasks from preventive maintenance to troubleshooting complex machinery in a manufacturing setting.

Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills with experience in CNC environments are valued. The role requires reliability, the ability to read drawings, and willingness to work from ladders or platforms; tools are provided by you, with training on-site

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree or mechanical certifications preferred.
  • 3–5 years manufacturing experience as maintenance mechanic.
  • Experience with 480V a plus.
  • Troubleshooting CNC experience preferred; ability to stand and walk 8+ hours.
  • Forklift and scissor lift experience preferred; will train.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties safely with emphasis on quality and adherence to procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, install, move, modify, and fabricate equipment and fixtures.
  • Follow instructions from manuals, drawings, and work orders.
  • Diagnose machinery and systems; support site layout and fabrication tasks.
  • Maintain records and assist with inventory; coordinate with other departments.

Timken Aurora Bearing Company is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic that will perform a variety of functions to maintain and repair equipment, and our building and grounds while adhering to the safety, quality and productivity standards of Timken Aurora Bearing Company.

Job Functions & Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties as assigned in a safe and efficient manner with an emphasis on quality. Follow Company and departmental procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality. Follow all safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition. Report any unusual conditions or situations to Lead Person or Supervisor.
  • Work with other maintenance personnel to trouble shoot, repair, rebuild, install, move, modify, and fabricate equipment system fixtures and processes.
  • Follow verbal and/or written instructions including but not limited to; service, parts maintenance, manuals, exploding view, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical drawings, and work orders.
  • Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and repairs including diagnosis of machinery and systems; equipment/site layout support, fabrication, welding, plumbing, piping, wiring, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, painting, etc. in accordance with business needs,
  • Apply communication skills to relay information to others regarding job assignments, and training skills to train others inside and outside the department.
  • Request purchase requisitions for repair parts. Keep departmental records as assigned. Responsible for portions of department inventory, work with outside vendors in person or by phone.
  • Work with Supervisor, Lead Person, or operator of other departments in order to analyze equipment problems.
  • Adhere to all lockout/tagout procedures and recognize the 5 forms of energy and how to control them.
  • Maintain facility requirements and work with outside service people as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirments
  • High School Diploma or GED required, associate degree or certifications with mechanical focus preferred.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment as maintenance mechanic, with 3-5 years preferred experience
  • Experience with 480 voltage a plus.
  • Troubleshooting CNC experience preferred.Ability to stand and walk 8 or more hours per day.
  • Forklift and scissor lift experience preferred but will train.
  • Ability to work from ladders or platforms.
  • Must have own tools to perform all facets of job responsibilities listed.
  • General HVAC knowledge a plus.

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $26.50 -$30.21 per hour and is commensurate on experience and education. This full-time position is eligible to participate in the paid time off plan, 401k, and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision.
