Job summary

High Pointe Apartments in Birmingham, AL is seeking an enthusiastic Maintenance Technician who cares for residents and the community. The role involves diagnosing and repairing electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, lighting, and various building systems, with responsibilities including moving appliances and maintaining common areas.

Ideal candidates will have a safety-first approach, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work on rotation weekends and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Maintenance technician with safety mindset and care for residents.
• Experience with appliances, water lines, and basic building systems preferred.
• EPA or CPO certification and/or related experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and maintain/repair electrical and plumbing systems.
• Service HVAC, water lines, and related appliances.
• Maintain and fix lighting, doors, gates, and fixtures across the property.
• Assist with moving appliances and keeping common areas clean.
• Respond to on-call emergencies and weekend rotation as needed.

A day in the life of our Maintenance Technician might include diagnosing and maintaining/fixing any of the following (in addition to helping with moving appliances and keeping the property clean):

• Electrical and plumbing (including water lines). A/C and heating systems.
• Appliances (when applicable). Water irrigation systems.
• Stairs, gates, fences, patios, and railings. Tile, carpet, flooring.
• Interior/exterior lights. Fireplaces, ceiling fans.
• Gas fixtures and appliances (where applicable). Shutters, doors, cabinets, windows, sliding glass doors.
• Boiler, gas, and/or electric. Door locks, P.O. boxes, and locks.
• Security systems (where applicable). Ceiling leaks.
• Pool areas, tile, pool furniture.

• Must have a Truck or Reliable transportation.
• Must Be able to take rotation weekend calls/and take on-call emergencies.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to provide proof of auto insurance coverage.

• HVAC, EPA, CPO certification and/or experience preferred.
