Job summary

Onyx Wellness Center is seeking a Maintenance Tech to perform a variety of standard and unskilled tasks in maintenance and repair of facility grounds and facilities.

The role requires a high school diploma and basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing and carpentry. The position is on-site with opportunities for overtime and a benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing and carpentry.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with and follows directions from the Maintenance Director.
• Maintains building and grounds in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
• Maintains and repairs basic functions of the facility as determined by the Maintenance Director.
• Takes care of the tools and equipment.
• Makes minor repairs on handrails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, geri-chairs, electrical equipment, sprinkling systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms and extinguishers; changes filters on HVAC equipment; carries, lifts and stocks supplies.
• Remains on call, when assigned, for 24 hours a day.
• Assumes supervisor’s responsibilities in his/her absence.
• Ensures residents and families receive high quality service in a caring atmosphere.
• Performs other duties as requested.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/ VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. 1 High school degree or equivalent and basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing and carpentry.
2. 2 Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.

JOB SKILLS:

1. 1 Good organizational skills.
2. 2 Agile and in good physical health.
3. 3 Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
4. 4 Provide annual verification of negative TB skin test.

2. 2 Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
