Job summary

Schulte Hospitality Group is seeking an energetic, experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our team at HIS Columbia-21062. You will oversee grounds, public areas and guest rooms, perform preventative maintenance, and respond quickly to orders to keep operations smooth.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in hotel maintenance, HVAC/electrical know‑how, and strong math, communication and time-management skills to support guest satisfaction and property excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in a hotel maintenance position preferred
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, electrical and general carpentry
• Basic math and strong communication skills
• Excellent time management and ability to respond to maintenance orders

Responsibilities

• Oversees property grounds, public areas and guest rooms
• Conducts preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns
• Paints, replaces electrical accessories, maintains HVAC
• Check fixtures, lighting and signs; manage spare parts inventory
• Responds to maintenance orders and completes work orders promptly
• Perform daily rounds and report problems

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees the property grounds, public areas and hotel guest rooms
• Conducts preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns in hotel accommodations
• Paints, replaces electrical accessories, maintains HVAC
• Check fixtures, lighting, and signs for proper operation; maintain an adequate supply of spare parts and light bulbs
• Responds to maintenance orders in a timely manner
• Fulfills work orders in a timely manner
• Completed daily rounds, identifying and reporting problems
• Perform various other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of three (2) years in a hotel maintenance position preferred
• Preferred but not necessary, one (1) year of college or trade school equivalent in a mechanical, electrical, and/or technical disciplines
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and general carpentry

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Basic math skills
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to exceed expectations of guests and team members
• Excellent time management skills
