Job summary

Grand Prairie Foods in Ohio is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role emphasizes safety, predictive maintenance, and adherence to GMP and regulatory standards.

The position operates 6:00am–3:00pm, Monday to Friday, with Saturdays as needed. Starting pay is $33/hour with shift differential, and benefits become eligible the first of the month after hire.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent with production maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery
  • Demonstrate safety awareness in a manufacturing environment
  • AA degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance preferred
  • 4+ years of manufacturing experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and PLC skills

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain production machines and plant facilities
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs during production and scheduled maintenance
  • Read equipment manuals and work orders to perform maintenance
  • Diagnose problems, replace/repair parts and test machines
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing
  • Conduct plumbing and carpentry tasks as needed
  • Use hand and power tools and meters safely
  • Report any faulty operations and safety concerns to supervision
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and GMPs

Role

The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment. These tasks should be done according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives

Responsibilities
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust machines
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Ensure that facilities, structures and equipment comply with food safety and meet regulatory requirements
Education & Training Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety in a manufacturing environment
  • An AA degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance - preferred
Work Experience Requirements
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
  • 4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC
  • Demonstrate full knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures
  • Vacuum furnace experience – preferred
Environmental Demands
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers
  • Ability to stand, reach, lift, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull up to 75 pounds
  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles from moving mechanical parts and vibrations
  • Exposure to variation in temperature
