Job summary

McCormick & Company in Hunt Valley is seeking a Maintenance Team Manager to lead a maintenance team and drive reliability and safety across the plant.

You will coach and develop staff, manage daily operations, and collaborate with other functions to meet production goals. The role includes oversight of maintenance plans, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate, college diploma, or university degree.
• Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) certification is highly desired.
• Minimum of 3 years of management experience with cross-functional awareness.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team in a specific functional area in line with McCormick's High-Performance System.
• Uses coaching and facilitation skills to manage employee relations.
• Provides regular performance feedback and oversees development plans for team members.
• Documents and facilitates recognition discussions using performance tools.
• Applies problem-solving tools to continually improve processes in the function.
• Demonstrates urgency in resolving problems and implementing improvements.
• Leads root cause analysis for failures meeting thresholds; documents procedures.
• Directs daily team management to prioritize work and achieve goals; ensures 100% compliance.
• Communicates up, down, and across the organization, aligning team with Plant and Division objectives.
• Manages cross-area interactions to support total plant objectives and conducts regular team meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Leads a team in a specific functional area in a manner consistent with the core beliefs and guiding principles of McCormick's High-Performance System.
• Utilizes coaching and facilitation skills to manage employee relations.
• Provides regular performance feedback and oversees development/training plans for individuals within the team.
• Actively uses performance and development tools to document and facilitate improvement/recognition discussions. Rewards and recognizes performance achievements.
• Utilizes problem solving tools and methodologies to implement continually improve processes within the function.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and tenacity to resolve problems and implement process improvements.
• Leads root cause analysis when required for failures that meet the applicable threshold. Develops and ensures all functional procedures and best practices are documented and continually improved.
• Directs and supports the daily management of the team to prioritize work and achieve goals. Creates an atmosphere of 100% compliance to operational processes and procedures. Coordinates the sharing of resources to make the best use of existing skills to meet business needs.
• Communicates effectively up, down, and across the organization. Creates a vision for the team that is in alignment with the Plant, Division, and McCormick.
• Communicates organizational and plant objectives, including the attainment of established scorecard metrics (safety, quality, reliability, etc.) and ensures that they are understood and linked to the team's work.
• Manages interactions with other areas to support total plant objectives. Conducts regular team meetings to share information and ensure two-way.

Qualifications

• Level of Education and Discipline: Trade Certificate, College Diploma, or University Degree
• Certification and/or Licenses, MMP ( Maintenance Management Professional ) – Highly Desired
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in management, basic understanding of how own area integrates with other areas and co-ordinates to contribute to the achievement of goals. Some knowledge of how external factors impact the work unit. Knowledge of the industry required.

Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence. Sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange complicated information, including sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.

Other Skills and Competencies- Full supervisory responsibilities, contributing to the motivation/development of team through professional leadership. Ensuring team members are motivated and capable of delivering a high level of performance. Leadership includes setting objectives, coaching employees in pursuit of those objectives, appraisal of performance relative to objectives and determination of reward outcomes.

Base Salary: $74,330 - $130,080

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
