Job summary

DSV Road Transport US is seeking a Maintenance Support Technician for on-site field maintenance across the Atlanta region. You will perform light repairs on Class 8 tractors and trailers, diagnose issues, prepare repair orders, and coordinate with drivers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure uptime and safety.

The role requires strong communication, 2+ years in diesel fleet maintenance, and the ability to travel frequently. Company truck, tools, PPE, and required technology are provided.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Class 8 truck and trailer mechanical experience or working knowledge required.
  • Valid in-state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • 2+ years of diesel, tractor/trailer, or fleet maintenance experience.
  • Business fluent in English.
  • Able to travel frequently (regional and occasional national).
  • Able to learn maintenance mgmt systems and service databases.
  • Basic understanding of DOT/FMCSA regulations.
  • Experience with ELDs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform light repair and maintenance on Class 8 tractors and trailers (lights, hoses, minor repairs, DOT inspections).

Maintenance Support Technician, Road Transport US - Atlanta, GA

Summary

At DSV Road Transport, the field maintenance support technician provides on‑site, mobile maintenance and technical support across assigned regions to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient fleet operations. This role combines in‑depth Class 8 diesel and trailer repair knowledge with exceptional communication and customer service skills. The Technician serves as a liaison between drivers, vendors, and internal departments while performing light repairs, coordinating service needs, and ensuring all maintenance activities meet DSV standards.

This is a traveling, field‑based role. DSV will provide a company truck, tools, PPE, and required technology to support mobile operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform light repair and maintenance work on Class 8 tractors and trailers, including but not limited to: lights, mudflaps, hoses, minor mechanical adjustments, and DOT inspections.
  • Respond to field service needs and driver breakdowns within assigned region, ensuring timely and safe resolution.
  • Conduct equipment condition assessments and determine appropriate repair paths (mobile repair vs. shop/vendor).
  • Initiate service and repair work by diagnosing issues, developing repair estimates, verifying warranty/service coverage, and writing repair orders (ROs).
  • Maintain company‑provided tools, truck, and equipment in clean, safe operating condition.
  • Serve as a mobile communicator and liaison between drivers, maintenance vendors, dispatch, and internal departments.
  • Ensure driver concerns, equipment issues, and safety needs are accurately captured and communicated to vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Follow up with repair shops and vendors to verify recommended services are completed correctly and documented.
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with external repair partners to ensure timely and cost‑effective service delivery.
  • Record accurate, detailed, and complete repair orders and service documentation.
  • Enter ROs and maintenance data into required systems (e.g., service databases, internal tracking tools).
  • Assist with manufacturer warranty processing when applicable.
  • Support parts procurement as needed, including sourcing, ordering, and tracking materials.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and maintain licensing, permitting, and compliance documentation for assigned equipment.
  • Ensure timely submission of invoices and repair documentation to Accounts Payable.
  • Travel extensively by road (and occasionally by air) to support fleet operations across assigned regions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support fleet safety, uptime, and operational needs.

Educational background / Work experience / Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Class 8 truck and trailer mechanical experience or working knowledge required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid in‑state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and perform light repairs safely and effectively.
  • 2+ years of diesel, tractor/trailer, or fleet maintenance experience.
  • Ability to learn and utilize maintenance management and service database systems.
  • Basic understanding of DOT regulations and FMCSA compliance standards.
  • Prior field service or mobile maintenance experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining alignment with internal teams.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with drivers, vendors, and operational teams.
  • Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to function within a group dynamic.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors and in various field environments.
  • Ability to travel frequently (regional and occasional national travel).
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching.
  • Company‑provided tools are supplied; basic hand tool familiarity beneficial.
  • Business fluent in English.
  • Preferably good command of local language.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and others).

Physical Demands

This position involves regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and climbing throughout the workday in shop, yard, and office environments. The role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds, performing light mechanical and inspection work, and climbing in and out of Class 8 trucks and trailers, including working above shoulder level and below knee level. Manual dexterity and visual acuity required to operate hand tools, inspection equipment, computers, and mobile devices, and to read repair orders, VINs, and DOT documentation. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in noisy maintenance and yard environments, operate vehicles as required to maintain a valid Class A CDL, sit for extended periods when driving or working at a workstation, and tolerate exposure to weather elements, noise, vibration, vehicle exhaust, and other typical maintenance‑yard conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment. ... The work environment for this position includes a combination of maintenance shop, terminal yard, vendor locations, roadway travel, and office settings. The role is performed in an active fleet and transportation environment with exposure to moving vehicles, machinery, tools, and typical shop conditions including noise, vibration, dust, vehicle exhaust, and fumes. Work may occur indoors and outdoors and may involve varying weather conditions and temperature extremes. The employee is expected to follow all safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment, including safety footwear, high‑visibility apparel, and eye or hearing protection as applicable.

Compensation

For this position, the expected base pay range is $20.50 – $30.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
