Job summary

Volvo Circular Charlotte is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to support remanufacturing operations. You will perform preventive and reactive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and help keep production running safely and efficiently.

This role emphasizes hands-on problem solving and continuous improvement within Volvo Operations standards. The position offers a structured shift, on-site work in Charlotte, and a strong compensation package including benefits and pay equity

Qualifications

  • Some vocational or community college coursework or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience with preventive and reactive maintenance is preferred.
  • Ability to read maintenance manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Performs reactive and preventive maintenance on machines and production equipment.
  • Records, reports, and acts on solutions for damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns and documents them.
  • Prepares reports documenting work performed and improvements to avoid future incidences.
  • Maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance using the maintenance database.
  • Collaborates with product manager or plant engineer on new products and modifications.
  • Implements tests and alterations to machinery as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • This position will work Monday through Thursday 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, with an expectation to be on call as needed
  • For this position, the base pay is set at $21.24 - $28.73/hour and is overtime eligible

Role Purpose

As a Maintenance Technician I, you will support the Volvo remanufacturing operation by performing preventive and reactive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and assist in keeping production running safely and efficiently. You will work in accordance with Volvo Operations Concept, Standard Operating Procedures, and established safety and quality standards.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on problem solving, values continuous improvement, and takes pride in maintaining reliable equipment and a well‑organized and safe work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Performs reactive and preventive maintenance on machines and production equipment.
  • Records, reports, and acts on solutions for damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines and fills out the appropriate documentation.
  • Prepares reports documenting work performed and improvements to avoid future incidences.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines, utilizing the maintenance database system.
  • Collaborates with product manager or plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
  • Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 poundsRegularly required to reach with arms and hands.
  • Required to stand, walk and use hands to handle tools/controls.
  • Required to sit, climb, balance and crouch.
Safety
  • Safety glasses required while grinding, steaming, using blow nozzles, or around others performing similar tasks.
  • Safety glasses in cleaning building and machine shop at all times.
  • Safety shoes always required.
  • Special attention to noise levels, hearing protection required in specific areas or operations.
  • Continuous elevated level of alertness.
  • Lock out tag out management and adherence
