Job summary

PEG Company in Utah County is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor who will oversee light construction, custodial tasks, and after-hours coverage. The role involves coordinating repairs, training staff, and ensuring safety and resident satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of apartment maintenance experience or equivalent.
  • 2+ years coordinating with outside contractors, evaluating bids and managing projects.
  • Certification or apprenticeship in maintenance (e.g., HVAC, pool, electrical, plumbing, carpentry). A CPO may be required at some locations.

Responsibilities

  • Minor drywall repairs: patching, texturing, painting.
  • Repair plumbing: toilets, faucets, drains.
  • Light electrical repairs: outlets, switches, bulbs, fixtures.

  • Train new maintenance staff; assess skills.
  • Custodial duties to prep units for move-in.
  • Follow safety protocols; use PPE and SDS as required.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Estimate repair time and manage within budget.
  • Maintain inventory systems for materials and supplies.
  • Maintain professionalism with residents and coworkers.
  • Maintain confidentiality per residents' rights.

Overview

Maintenance Supervisor – Utah County: The Maintenance Supervisor performs light construction work and custodial functions, with after-hours coverage as needed, and may perform the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Carpentry: Remodel and repair work
  • Minor repairs of drywall including patching, texturing and painting
  • Replace and repair unit plumbing (toilets, faucets, or drains)
  • Light electrical repairs to include replacing outlets and switches, bulbs, and light fixtures
  • Maintain the exterior of the building, including light painting, power washing, sweeping, grounds cleaning, light landscaping, repairing or replacing fixtures, and snow/ice removal where applicable
  • Assign work to maintenance technicians and review completed work for thoroughness and accuracy
  • Train new maintenance employees, assess skill levels, and provide advanced training as needed
  • Replace or perform light repairs of appliances
  • Custodial work for units to be ready for move-in
  • Adhere to all property safety protocols and OSHA safety standards. Use safety guards when operating tools or equipment. Follow all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and required PPE when handling chemicals
  • Implement an appropriate preventive maintenance (PM) schedule; perform preventive maintenance in units and public areas to meet required standards
  • Estimate time and extent of repairs and manage work within budget
  • Maintain organizational systems for material and supply inventories
  • Maintain professionalism with coworkers and residents when working in and around the apartment community
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality policies according to residents’ rights regulations and courtesy
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • 5 years of apartment maintenance experience or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience collaborating with outside contractors; evaluating bids, overseeing warranty work, and managing projects
  • Certification or apprenticeship in maintenance areas (e.g., HVAC, pool, electrical, plumbing, carpentry). A CPO may be required at some locations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • General computer knowledge to utilize company communication tools, training resources, and order management systems
Physical Requirements
  • Must tolerate bending, kneeling, standing, stooping, walking, and climbing stairs; occasionally work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50+ pounds
  • Must be able to operate motorized equipment related to repair and maintenance (e.g., drills, sanders, saws)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s policy
