Job description

St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking Park Supervisor candidates to help fulfill its mission of providing high-quality parks, facilities, and recreation services that enhance residents' lives through responsible and effective resource management. The current vacancy is at Tilles Park, but the list may be used to fill other positions as they become available.

The starting salary is $23.10 hourly, depending on qualifications and budget considerations. Benefits include a comprehensive package, a work environment in a park setting, and a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy. For more details, visit County benefits.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Managing maintenance and operation of park buildings and grounds.
  2. Establishing work priorities and schedules.
  3. Supervising routine tasks such as mowing, restroom and playground maintenance, trash removal, and court maintenance.
  4. Overseeing maintenance, repair, and special projects for parking lots, sidewalks, shelters, restrooms, and trails.
  5. Maintaining County equipment like trucks and mowers.
  6. Researching and writing specifications for equipment and materials.
  7. Coordinating with park staff on outside functions like snow removal and events.
  8. Conducting safety inspections and enforcing regulations.
  9. Providing input for budget considerations.
  10. Ensuring a safe and pleasant visitor experience.
  11. Performing related duties as required.

Candidates must have at least six years of maintenance experience in the relevant area, including two years of supervisory or lead experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Special Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Some positions require a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 30 days of employment.
Selection Process:

A committee evaluates applicants based on education, experience, supplemental questions, references, and other relevant information. Only top candidates will be interviewed, with a minimum qualifying score of 70. Final candidates will be asked to complete a Conviction Questionnaire within 3 days after the interview. The top five candidates will be forwarded to the Department Director for final selection.
