Job summary

BENTELER Automotive in Indiana seeks a Professional-level Maintenance Specialist with 8–10 years in operations management and 5–8 years in automotive environments. You will lead repairs, schedule maintenance, test innovations and coordinate cross-functional teams while upholding safety and efficiency across production lines.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and a proven track record in continuous improvement and personnel development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or advanced education preferred.
  • 8–10 years of operations management experience required.
  • 5–8 years of automotive industry experience.
  • Physical requirements: light work; lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Identify sources of production equipment errors and implement permanent fixes.
  • Use BOSLE principles for root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and coordinate scheduled and preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Test and implement technical innovations.
  • Coordinate collaboration across maintenance, operations and BOSLE teams.
  • Coordinate service providers and support equipment releases and inspections.
  • Support setup/launch of new production equipment and final inspections.
  • Lead HR processes to recruit, develop and retain a qualified workforce; uphold company values and safety procedures.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Identifies the sources for errors and breakdowns/disturbances of production equipment with mechanic, hydraulic and pneumatic components; develops and implements permanent remedial actions accordingly
  2. Analyzes weak points and provides continuous improvement through the use of BOSLE principles such as problem solving and root cause analysis techniques
  3. Plans and coordinates scheduled repairs on equipment as well as preventive/predictive maintenances
  4. Tests technical innovations and implements them
  5. Coordinates the collaboration of relevant departments such as maintenance, operation, BOSLE
  6. Coordinates service provider
  7. Supports the final approval and technical release of production and test equipment
  8. Supports the setup and launch of new production equipment and conducts final inspection
  9. Promotes a respectful work environment and recruits, develops and retains human resources to maintain a qualified, motivated and productive workforce. Leads by example and lives up to Benteler’s mission, values and global leadership principles. Uses standard HR tools e.g. the appraisal process to provide regular feedback and agree upon tasks and goals with respective employees
  10. Enforces and follows safety procedures within the maintenance organization being attentive to unsafe behaviors or conditions, and taking necessary corrective actions
  11. Provides support to all activities assigned by the direct supervisor.

Job Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or advanced education preferred

  • Years of working experience: 8-10 years of working experience, operations management required

  • Years of industry experience: 5-8 years of automotive experience

  • Physical requirements: Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Occasional walking and standing. Limited carrying, lifting and climbing
