Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a proactive Maintenance Supervisor/Manager to lead an active maintenance crew on the plant floor of a heavy industrial facility. You will direct daily maintenance, troubleshoot electrical circuits, manage CMMS-driven PM programs, and mentor technicians across shifts while upholding safety and Lean/5S practices.

This role requires hands-on leadership, PLC troubleshooting, and a strong background in millwright mechanics and PM scheduling.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance leadership experience in heavy industrial manufacturing.
• Industrial electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
• Intermediate PLC knowledge; programming not required.
• Active, floor-present leadership with strong face-to-face communication across shifts.
• Background in millwright mechanics, PM program development, CMMS usage.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily maintenance workflows across shifts with technicians on the floor.
• Diagnose industrial electrical circuits, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics and cranes.
• Develop and monitor preventive/predictive maintenance programs via CMMS.
• Oversee MRO parts inventory and liaise with suppliers and contractors.
• Lead Lean/Kaizen/5S initiatives while ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
• Mentor and train team members to maintain morale and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily maintenance workflows across shifts, working shoulder-to-shoulder with technicians on the floor to troubleshoot, repair, and optimize production machinery.
• Perform hands-on diagnostics of industrial electrical circuits (24V, 120V, 480V), integrated PLC controls, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, and overhead cranes.
• Build and refine preventive/predictive maintenance programs and monitor downtime, asset utilization, and PM compliance using CMMS platforms.
• Supervise MRO spare parts inventory, maintain equipment histories, and liaise directly with suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
• Champion Lean, Kaizen, and 5S continuous improvement initiatives while upholding plant environmental and safety regulations.
• Mentor, train, and hold team members accountable to maintain high morale and department ownership.

Must-Haves

• Proven hands-on maintenance leadership experience in heavy industrial manufacturing (steel processing preferred).
• Industrial electrical troubleshooting capabilities (stronger electrically than mechanically).
• Intermediate PLC knowledge and troubleshooting (programming NOT required).
• Active, floor-present leadership style, rather than mostly desk work,with excellent face-to-face communication across multiple shifts.
• Demonstrated background in millwright mechanics, PM program development, and CMMS software.
