Job summary

G.A. Richards Group in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a maintenance technician to inspect, repair, and maintain machines, tools, and building systems in an industrial plant.

You will review problem histories with plant management, diagnose issues, install parts, operate welding equipment, and ensure safe operation; willingness to train others. This full-time role offers a pay range of $30–$38 per hour and benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO after 90 days.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent; 6 months to 1 year related experience or training.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Reviews problem history with plant manager and shift lead to determine optimal preventive maintenance frequency.
• Observes equipment for unusual sounds or indicators to diagnose problems with Supervisors or operators.
• Dismantles defective machines and installs new or repaired parts.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus and components of machinery and equipment.
• Repairs and maintains building structure and facilities.
• Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Diagnoses causes of breakdown and suggests modifications to improve operation.
• Monitors critical components and reports issues.
• Follows written procedures; performs work safely with minimal supervision.
• Is available for call-in when assigned.
• Performs preventive maintenance tasks and trains others.
