Responsibilities
  1. Plans, supervises, and participates in construction and repair work (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, painting, masonry, guttering).
  2. Supervises electrical work involving high voltage systems and HVAC systems.
  3. Instructs staff in operating and repairing HVAC systems.
  4. Implements preventive maintenance programs, plans work, estimates materials, maintains records, requisitions supplies.
  5. Assigns offender crews, checks work quality, resolves disciplinary issues.
  6. Works under general administrative direction, performs inspections, and other related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three+ years as a Maintenance Worker with the Missouri system and a high school diploma or equivalent, OR
  • Six+ years of semi-skilled building or plant maintenance experience (excluding landscaping/groundskeeping/custodial) and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Post-secondary training in trades may substitute for experience (30 credit hours or 480 hours per year).

Additional Information

All documents must be received by the closing date. Some positions offer a shift differential of $173.34 semi-monthly for certain shifts and locations. The department offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase every two years up to 20 years of service. The department promotes from within and recognizes distinguished service.
