An international food processing company in the West Suburbs Chicagoarea is looking for a Maintenance Supervisor. The ideal candidate has experience in the maintenance field for both equipment and facilities. This is a full-time, direct hire position.
Responsibilities:
· Oversees and leads a team of 10 or more maintenance technicians
· Develops, implements, and maintains preventative and predictive maintenance programs for equipment and facilities
· Resolves service, quality, cost, and training-related issues in maintenance operations
· Collaborates with other department managers (e.g., production, quality, shipping) to coordinate maintenance activities
· Coaches, mentors, and trains maintenance department staff
· Responds to emergency equipment repair and troubleshooting (welding machines, press machines, automated machinery, ASRS, conveyors, dock equipment, forklifts, refrigeration units)
· Diagnoses and assists in repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, and PLC issues
· Conducts equipment and facility electrical maintenance
· Promotes a “Safety First” culture and ensures compliance with SQF Quality Management and GMP policies
· Maintains a clean and safe work environment
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Management
Requirements:
· Associate’s degree or college program certificate; or 5+ years of relevant experience/training in a food manufacturing environment (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
· Minimum 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience
· Knowledge of automated storage and retrieval systems and forklift maintenance
· Experience in leading, evaluating, and training maintenance technicians is
· Strong verbal communication skills – able to listen actively and express ideas clearly
· Effective written communication – able to read, interpret, and write documents accurately
· While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
