Job Summary

Supervises general maintenance repairs and ensures distribution center, warehouse facility, truck shop facility, and material handling equipment in Monroe remain compliant according to Company and governmental policies. Works with vendors and third-party contractors to set up repairs when needed. Supervises internal maintenance personnel to ensure consistency within the maintenance department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervises maintenance for approximately 500 thousand square feet of facilities, which includes campus utilities, emergency generators, UPS systems, fire suppression systems and fire alarm systems.
  • Supervises maintenance of approximately 600 facilities related and material handling equipment and systems.
  • Oversees and coordinates responses to any emergency events that disrupt operations on the distribution campus.
  • Ensures facilities and equipment are maintained properly and adhere to Company policies.
  • Oversees DC Campus Building Automation System monitoring.
  • Works with management on special projects such as remodels, expansions, design changes, racking, etc.
  • Coordinates outside contractors and vendors for repairs and preventive maintenance when necessary.
  • Verifies and approves maintenance related invoices and work orders.
  • Inspects, tests, and maintains all fire safety equipment and systems.
  • Maintains inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment ensuring adequate stock levels for uninterrupted operations.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, training, and developing partners; budgeting; planning, asset management, assigning and directing work; scheduling, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Enforces compliance with all governmental and Company policies/procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP PM (plant maintenance) and MM (materials management) modules.
  • Advanced Building Automation System knowledge or controls systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, HVAC, controls, fire systems, material handling and plumbing systems.
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry and welding.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to review and comprehend safety manuals, invoices, etc.
  • Ability to use knives/box cutters.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery/ hazardous equipment.
  • Ability to operate a forklift/pallet jack.
  • Ability to use precision hand tools.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret information.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and productivity.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
  • Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in related field and four or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
