We have an exciting opportunity for a 2nd Shift Utilities Supervisor at our pork processing plant in Beardstown, IL. This role oversees the daily operation of the plant's ammonia refrigeration system, boilers, potable water system, carcass coolers, snap chill system, compressed air system, and sanitizing water system. The supervisor will lead a team of 12 hourly operators, providing onsite presence 24/7. This position is a key member of the Hazmat team and must be trained as an Incident Commander. Responsibilities include supervising the Utilities team, managing plant maintenance activities such as scheduling, planning, work prioritization, procurement, employee supervision, training, and development. The role also involves managing capital projects and supervising contractors.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Maintenance Leadership (40%): Lead plant mechanical, electrical, and contract technicians, including predictive, preventive, and reactive maintenance.
• Plant Maintenance (30%): Assist in maintenance and repairs of plant equipment.
• Engaged Employees (30%): Foster an inclusive environment, encourage team involvement, recognize successes, challenge growth, and promote development.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience
• Occasional travel (10%)

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Bilingual skills
• Supervisory experience
• Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (Ultrasound, Infrared Thermography, Vibration analysis, Oil analysis)
• 2+ years of frontline maintenance leadership
• Advanced safety knowledge, including permit procedures and hazardous chemicals
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS software
• Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)
• Knowledge of continuous improvement programs
