Job summary

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to provide leadership to the maintenance team in a highly automated environment in Richmond, VA. You will ensure repairs are performed safely, on time, and to quality standards, while guiding staff and coordinating daily activities.

The role requires extensive hands-on maintenance experience, strong supervisory skills, and a track record of implementing maintenance processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a leadership position (team lead, team captain, supervisor, shift lead, etc.)
• At least five years of maintenance experience required.
• Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
• Two years’ experience with 5S/6S, Lean/Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience in robotics (Fanuc) and PLC Programming with Allen Bradley systems
• 3+ years of experience in powder coating, conveyor systems

Responsibilities

• Hires and trains maintenance department staff.
• Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of maintenance staff.
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
• Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the maintenance department.
• Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
• Assesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules.
• Develop maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
• Assists with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects.

Job Title: Supervisor, Maintenance

What we are looking for:

The Supervisor, Maintenance provides leadership to team leaders and a team of hourly skilled employees, ensuring the team meets repairs safely, on time, and to established quality standards. This position will be responsible for routine maintenance support to the operations departments in a highly automated environment.

What you will be responsible for in this role:

• Hires and trains maintenance department staff.
• Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of maintenance staff.
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
• Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the maintenance department.
• Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
• Assesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules.
• Develop maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
• Assists with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Experience of metal fabrication processes such as laser cutting, bending, roll forming, and die punching.
• Experience in powder coating, conveyor systems
• Extensive knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
• Ability to plan maintenance schedules for building systems.
• Excellent supervisory skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

What are the basic qualifications?

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
