Job summary

EnerSys Maintenance Supervisor in Springfield leads safety, TPM and continuous improvement to maximize uptime and OEE. You will develop the maintenance team, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include overseeing preventive maintenance, spare parts inventory, and repair scheduling across plant equipment, lift and support systems, with a focus on cost control and steady performance improvements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical college preferred.
  • 2+ years of technical college or equivalent preferred.
  • 3–5 years industrial maintenance experience with supervisory exposure.
  • Computer skills including MS Office are required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Maintenance Team in Safety / Environmental Targets as defined by EOS MDI.
  • Be the Leader for EOS MDI, RCA and Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • Investigates and implements opportunities to improve Sustainability activities.
  • Lead TPM implementation and adherence.
  • Supports site SMED activities to improve OEE.
  • Oversees the Maintenance Advancement program for skills development in multiple disciplines.
  • Manage preventive maintenance programs, scheduling, and verification of completion.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, identification, storage, and replenishment.
  • Demonstrates leadership by example with high ethical standards.
  • Directs hourly maintenance staff and ensures appropriate staffing alignment.

Job Purpose

The Maintenance Supervisor serves as a key leader in Safety, Sustainability, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence initiatives. This role is responsible for developing maintenance team capabilities, maximizing equipment up time, improving OEE, reducing maintenance costs, and ensuring compliance with all company safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. In addition, this position functions as the departmental budget holder for maintenance labor, repair expenditures, contracted services, MRO inventory, and critical spare parts inventory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead the Maintenance Team in the achievement of Safety / Environmental Targets as defined by the EOS MDI system.

2. Be the Leader for EOS MDI, RCA and Continuous Improvement efforts.

3. Investigates and implements opportunities to improve Sustainability activities in accordance with the Site’s objectives (particularly electricity and natural gas).

4. Leads efforts related to TPM implementation and adherence.

5. Supports site SMED activities as a means to improve O.E.E. (where applicable).

6. Oversees the Maintenance Advancement program, facilitating skills achievement in the areas of Mechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Robotic and PLC (Programmable Controls) to grow the skill set of the team.

7. Management of all plant preventative maintenance programs, including coordination, scheduling and verification of completion in the following areas: o Plant production equipment o Plant support equipment (i.e. boilers, compressors, fuel, water, oil, electrical systems) o Lift equipment including fork lifts and hand trucks.

8. Building and grounds maintenance, including: heating, cooling, and building integrity.

9. Management of the spare parts inventory including accurate parts identification, storage/organization, and replenishment.

10. Demonstrates “leadership by example” with high ethical standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs all hourly maintenance employees including maintenance, building and grounds, and repair staff. Ensures adequate staffing and scheduling to support production and maintenance goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Two years of technical college, vocational school or equivalent formal education is preferred.

Three to five years industrial maintenance experience working on progressively more responsible projects and assignments.

Previous supervisory experience and/or demonstrated leadership ability required. Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills are required, including ability to use MS office. Must have the ability to develop and analyze software applications and utilize software to meet department needs.
