Description
Basic Function: Monitors and guides all activities within the maintenance department. Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in an industrial establishment by performing the following duties. Takes a leadership role in Safety and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- As Supervisor, provides guidance to and training of maintenance technicians.
- Assures Lock-out/Tag-out is followed 100% of the time and assures all environmental issues are corrected and maintained. Work areas are kept clean and orderly. All safety training has been scheduled and conducted as required.
- Maintain/upgrade intellectual capital by developing existing employees and attracting qualified employees. Establish performance objectives and expectations for the department and hold employees accountable through the performance and development review process. Responsible, with assistance from HR and Manager, for coaching and employee disciplinary procedures.
- Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
- Develops, implements, and maintains preventative maintenance program.
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment to include sprinkler systems.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Sets up and operates metalworking tools such as lathe, drill press, or grinder, to make or repair parts.
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of multiple plants.
- Visually inspects, tests, and repairs company vehicles.
- Diagnoses and repairs power tools.
- Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden and metal structures.
- Runs new electrical wiring and conduit as well as electrical and PLC trouble shooting and repair.
- Oversees steam and boiler systems.
- Communicates and interacts with Manager, Production Supervisors and peers as necessary.
- Assists co-workers with repairs.
- Replaces defective light bulbs, both machine and building
- Assures all company rules and regulations are followed
Requirements
- 5 years of previous maintenance experience required and previous supervisor experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Lifts frequently (40 - 70% of normal work day) material weighing 25 – 60 lbs. Occasionally lifts (15 - 40% of normal work day) material weighing 60 lbs. Lifting generally from floor level to shoulder level.
- Must be capable of close, distant, and color vision and have good depth perception.
- Must reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Must be reliable and willing to work overtime when required.
- Valid Driver’s License required
