Job summary

HF Sinclair Corporation in Petrolia, PA seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to lead mechanical maintenance, supervise crews and contractors, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Excellent collaboration with Operations and planning teams is expected.

Job description

BASIC FUNCTION:

The HF Sinclair Petrolia, Pennsylvania facility is looking for a Maintenance Supervisor. The successful candidate will manage and direct all maintenance work execution at the Petrolia plant to ensure field activities proceed in a safe, environmentally responsible, productive and cost effective manner while maintaining compliance with plant and regulatory agency standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and direct all mechanical maintenance work execution, ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved job plans.
  • Supervise mechanical craftspeople and contractors in the field, ensuring quality of work, productivity, and adherence to standards.
  • Execute daily maintenance activities in alignment with the approved schedule, adjusting field priorities as necessary and communicating deviations to the Planner Scheduler.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety policies, OSHA regulations, PSM requirements, and established procedures.
  • Conduct regular field presence to monitor job progress, verify work quality, and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Lead daily toolbox meetings and safety discussions to promote a strong safety culture and hazard awareness.
  • Ensure proper execution of preventive maintenance activities, verifying work quality, completeness, and adherence to job plans.
  • Provide feedback to the Planner Scheduler and Maintenance Engineer to improve job plans, PM effectiveness, and work processes.
  • Monitor workforce performance, including headcount and timesheets, to ensure alignment with schedule, cost, and productivity targets.
  • Identify and address equipment issues, coordinating with the Maintenance Engineer on troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Support equipment reliability and continuous improvement efforts through active participation in RCA, MOC, and reliability initiatives.
  • Ensure contractors are executing work safely and in compliance with site standards; oversee field-level contractor performance and coordination.
  • Collaborate with Operations to coordinate equipment access, resolve conflicts, and ensure efficient execution of maintenance work.
  • Support execution of outages and turnarounds, ensuring work is completed according to plan, schedule, and safety expectations.
  • Maintain effective communication with Maintenance leadership regarding work progress, resource needs, risks, and delays.
  • Serve as backup to the Instrumentation and Controls Supervisor and provide support to the Planner Scheduler as needed, without primary responsibility for planning or scheduling.
  • Responsible for food safety inspections, utility systems including plant air, water and offsite wells, and the fire protection system outside production battery limits.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of seven years of related job experience is required.
  • Refining experience is preferred
EDUCATION:
  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree or Technical Certification in maintenance operations or similar program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Technical problem solving skills including proficiency and understanding in various methods of root cause analysis.
  • Ability to decipher and work within requirements of a collective bargaining agreement.
  • Excellent communication skills and personal rapport to support the initiatives throughout the plant.
  • Knowledge of OSHA compliance requirements and other environmental and/or safety regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products.
  • SAP Experience a plus.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises mechanical craft and maintenance employees and contractors while onsite.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Petroleum refinery and driver-based environment including but not limited to chemical, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, working in confined spaces, and exposure to risk of electrical shock. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions. Occasionally required to work long hours which may include nights, weekends, holidays for regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency work and support as well as on-call availability.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 15 ft, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid State driver's license and proof of insurance, perceiving color differences, ability to wear personal protective equipment and a respirator during emergency situations as needed.
