Job summary

GW Murphy, INC is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor in New Orleans, LA to oversee building, grounds, and equipment upkeep, including forklifts and trucks. You will lead repairs, coordinate schedules, and ensure safety compliance while working with a team or independently.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, calibrations, inventory control, and assisting in loading/unloading as needed. Strong problem solving and physical stamina are required.

Qualifications

• Ensure production and packaging equipment is calibrated, lubricated, and operational.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
• Load/unload trucks and assist in moving materials as needed.
• Supervise facility upkeep and repair schedules.
• Travel between branches to maintain equipment as required.
• Perform general handyman tasks and maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
• Collaborate with management to prioritize and complete projects.

Job description

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee all aspects of building, property, and equipment upkeep, including hands on repairs and maintenance for buildings, grounds, forklifts, trucks, packaging equipment, etc. and ensure the facility remains safe, clean, functional, and well maintained. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is a team player, but who can also work independently, solve problems, and keep things running without skipping a beat. The role will also involve operating a forklift to assist in moving, loading, and unloading building materials as needed, when not performing maintenance duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine building, mechanical, vehicle, and equipment maintenance
• Ensure production and packaging equipment is calibrated, lubricated, and fully operational to meet output demands.
• Operate forklifts and other material‑handling equipment
• Pick orders, load and unload trucks and retail customer vehicles as needed
• Supervise and coordinate facility upkeep and repair schedules
• Travel between branches if needed to maintain equipment
• Perform general handyman tasks
• Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures
• Work closely with management to prioritize and complete projects

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency with hand & power tools, maintenance equipment, and basic repairs

• Proven forklift experience is distribution or warehouse environment
