Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for its manufacturing facility. The role leads maintenance activities, ensures safe and reliable operation, and coordinates across shifts to maximize uptime and minimize unplanned downtime.

You will drive preventive maintenance programs, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems, and enforce safety and regulatory requirements, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance leadership or supervisory role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Electrical trade experience is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of NEC codes and NFPA 70E electrical safety practices.
  • Welding experience is highly recommended.

Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.


Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of manufacturing equipment across full scale production facility. This role provides frontline leadership to a team of maintenance technicians while ensuring continuity of work execution between shifts.


The Maintenance Supervisor drives equipment reliability, preventive maintenance excellence, and rapid response to unplanned events while maintaining strict compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. This position plays a critical role in decision making, troubleshooting, and communication to support overall plant performance.


Responsibilities will include:



  • Lead all maintenance activities with a strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and operational discipline.

  • Enforce compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including electrical safety, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and energized work practices.

  • Promote a strong safety culture byidentifyinghazards, addressing unsafe conditions, and reinforcing safe behaviors across the maintenance team.

  • Lead, coach, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing clear direction, support, and accountability.

  • Develop team capabilitythroughthejob coaching, mentoring, and reinforcement of standard work practices.

  • Facilitate effective communication and work handoff between shifts to ensure continuity of maintenance activities and priorities.

  • Ensure equipment reliability to maximize production uptime and minimize unplanned downtime.

  • Plan, prioritize, and execute corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities.

  • Establish, execute, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs tooptimizeasset performance and extend equipment life.


Desired Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance leadership or supervisory role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong troubleshooting experience with complex mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Electrical trade experience is an asset.

  • Working knowledge of NEC codes and NFPA 70E electrical safety practices.

  • Welding experience is highly recommended.

  • Previous experience working with motors, pumps, and rotating equipment is an asset.

  • Proficiency in electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting using schematics and blueprints.

  • Ability to make independent decisions and manage emergency situations calmly and effectively.

  • Strong written communication skills, including report writing, business correspondence, and development of standard work procedures.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

  • Passion for sustainability, environmental responsibility, and building a safer, more reliable operation.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including prolonged standing (over 80% of the shift) and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to complete required respiratory fit testing and medical evaluation and work a full shift while wearing required PPE, including full-face respirators, SCBA or supplied-air systems, Tyvek suits, and PAPRs, as required for the role

  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, including climbing ladders and stairs

  • Ability to operate and perform maintenance on equipment such as forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other specialized machinery


Working Conditions:



  • Work performed in manufacturing and operational environments both indoors and outdoors

  • Frequent exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and other industrial conditions typical of production environments

  • Occasional work at heights or in elevated areas

  • Occasional operation of industrial equipment such as forklifts, box trucks, or other material-handling machinery


The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
