Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance operations, apply preventative maintenance, and maximize plant uptime. You will coach craftsmen, enforce safety practices, and drive reliability improvements across the facility.

The role requires a technical degree or equivalent experience, several years in maintenance leadership, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree in a maintenance-related discipline or related work experience.
• 3+ years of maintenance supervisory leadership experience within the packaging industry.
• 3+ years of mechanical or electrical maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of maintenance techniques and equipment (i.e. pumps, valves, motors, gear boxes).
• Safety mindset with thorough understanding of safety policies and procedures.
• Initiative to solve problems and take independent action.
• Great communication with the ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization.
• Able to exhibit a ‘can-do’ approach and inspire others to excel.
• Must be organized with great time management to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist and provide direction to craftsmen of troubleshooting equipment to mitigate downtime.
• Monitor and approve inventory orders to control storeroom spend according to planned budget.
• Ensure compliance and proper use of parts and equipment according to preferred maintenance practices.
• Oversee craftsmen’s compliance with corporate, division, plant safety and environmental rules and procedures.
• Lead development and implementation of continuous process improvement of reliability plans in the plant.
• Demonstrate ownership of business and management goals by effectively leading craftsmen to align objectives.
• Lead safety efforts by identifying high-risk situations, conducting safety meetings, and coordinating maintenance related safety activities.
• Provide leadership and coaching in safety, training, and work allocation to uphold the standards of maximum safety for all maintenance employees.
• Collaborate with operations and mechanical leaders to plan, schedule and execute daily and break-in work and to increase measured reliability metrics.

What you need to succeed
