Our Lady of Light Parish in Fort Myers, FL seeks a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to oversee facilities, grounds, and vendor coordination. This role reports to the Business Manager and/or Pastor and requires proactive supervision of maintenance staff.

You will manage preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and budgeting support, while responding to emergencies and hurricane preparations. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Practical maintenance experience; supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work independently within established authority.
• Basic computer skills for email, work requests, schedules, and records.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergencies.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; climb, bend, kneel, reach.
• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• Must pass Level II FDLE background check.
• Must pass post-offer physical examination.

Responsabilités

• Supervise maintenance staff and coordinate assignments within staffing and schedules.
• Perform general repairs; arrange qualified contractors for specialized work.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for facilities and systems.
• Oversee contracted cleaning and custodial tasks.
• Open/close facilities and ensure coverage for activities.
• Review calendars and arrange access and room readiness for events.
• Assist with event setups and memorial garden preparations.
• Oversee grounds, kitchens, and rectory upkeep; address maintenance needs and hazards.
• Obtain estimates, coordinate vendors, and verify work per procedures.
• Maintain work orders, service records, and inventories; assist budgeting and repair planning.
• Coordinate safety inspections and corrective work; report hazards.
• Respond to emergencies and hurricane preparation/recovery.
• Keep Business Manager informed of priorities and staffing needs.

Overview

Our Lady of Light Catholic Community seeks a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to maintain parish facilities and grounds, supervise maintenance assistants, and coordinate approved vendors. The position works under the Business Manager and/or Pastor, exercising initiative within established priorities and approval procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance assistant(s); coordinate assignments and schedules within approved staffing and work hours.
• Perform general repairs and maintenance; arrange qualified contractors for specialized work.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for buildings, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other facility systems.
• Oversee contracted cleaning; assist with trash removal, restroom upkeep, and other custodial tasks as needed.
• Open and close facilities, check doors, operate lights and alarms, and coordinate approved coverage.
• Review calendars and work requests; arrange access, air conditioning, and room readiness for activities.
• Assist with event setups, breakdowns, seasonal arrangements, and Memorial Garden interment preparation.
• Oversee grounds, fountains, kitchen, and rectory upkeep; identify and address maintenance needs and hazards.
• Obtain estimates, coordinate vendors, and verify work, following parish purchasing and approval procedures.
• Maintain work orders, service records, and supply inventories; assist with budgeting and repair planning.
• Coordinate safety inspections and corrective work; follow safe practices and report hazards and incidents.
• Respond to maintenance emergencies and assist with hurricane preparation and recovery.
• Keep the Business Manager informed of priorities, progress, staffing needs, and unresolved concerns.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required, technical training or trade certification preferred.
• Practical experience in building maintenance and repairs; supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work independently within established authority.
• Basic computer skills for email, work requests, schedules, and records.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as needed.
• Ability to safely use tools and equipment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb, bend, kneel, reach, and work indoors and outdoors.
• Valid Florida driver's license.
• Must pass Level II FDLE background check.
• Must pass a Diocese assigned post offer physical examination.
