Job summary

Brookfield Properties in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to manage general maintenance activities of a complex residential property. You will supervise staff, perform essential repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks, and interface with contractors.

Job Description
Position Summary

Supervises, coordinates and performs activities involved with the general maintenance of a multi‑unit residential property of higher complexity. Responsibilities include repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, general to advanced mechanical maintenance, interior maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, and housekeeping.

Essential Job Functions
  • Supervises and coordinates the maintenance staff, recommends new hires, disciplines staff, and contributes to performance appraisal. Responsible for training, coaching, and communicating with the maintenance staff.
  • Performs or assigns repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment, including HVAC, diagnosing problems, disassembling units, cleaning, lubricating, repairing, and replacing parts.
  • Performs or assigns routine to difficult carpentry duties, including installation of doors, doorjambs, moldings, hinges, door closers, locks, knobs, drywall, plaster repair, and painting duties.
  • Performs or assigns routine to difficult electrical duties, including inspecting, testing lights, wiring and circuits, replacing switches and lamps.
  • Performs or assigns routine to difficult plumbing duties, including unclogging sinks, repairing faucets, replacing fixtures, repairing pipes and fountains.
  • Interfaces with contractors and vendors. Creates specifications, solicits bids, negotiates with vendors and secures bids for services in accordance with established bid process.
Education

High School diploma or GED.

Work Experience
  • 3-4 years in commercial or multi‑unit property maintenance (required).
  • Computer and smartphone literacy required. Clear communication in English, both verbal and written. Multilingual skills are a plus.

Note: 5-7 years of experience can offset minimum educational requirements.

Licenses & Certifications
  • HVAC (depending on property needs) – Preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License (depending on property needs) – Preferred.
  • Electrical – Preferred.
  • Appliance – Preferred.
