Job summary

Gpac is looking for a Maintenance Supervisor in southern Indiana, responsible for hands-on maintenance of a USDA food manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will have experience in machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and supervisory skills.

Job description

Position Overview

Gpac is working with a well‑established growing national food manufacturer that is seeking a 1st Shift Maintenance Supervisor in southern Indiana. The supervisor will relocate.

The Maintenance Supervisor is a hands‑on position responsible for preventative and routine maintenance tasks in our USDA food manufacturing plant. The role works with staff to troubleshoot issues, repair production and facilities equipment failures, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Machine maintenance, breaking down equipment, adjusting and setting up for daily production.
  • Preventative maintenance, including daily and weekly inspections of all machinery.
  • Develop maintenance budgets, projects, and major and minor line improvements.
  • Schedule, supervise, and direct work of the staff.
  • Evaluate performance and work with the Plant Manager regarding personnel issues.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Work overtime, on call 24 hours a day for emergency situations, and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
  • Skilled controls electrical/ PLC troubleshooting experience reading schematics.
  • Experience in industrial meat slicing and packaging.
  • Must have previous experience reading schematics.
  • Experience with SQF or other GFSI programs.
  • College degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering (equivalent experience may be substituted).
  • Proactive team player who learns quickly and embraces change.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Ability to work with power tools and high/low voltages. Must have own tools.
  • Equipment knowledge: Weber slicers, Thermoformers, Multi‑Vac tray sealers, flow wrappers & labelers, ink jet printers.
  • Ability to read engineering schematics (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic).
  • Welding experience.
  • Light carpentry skills.
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to interact with all levels of personnel.
