Job summary

FLATS LLC, a ProperXPM company, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to service our scattered-site apartment portfolio in Uptown Chicago. The role focuses on completing maintenance tasks, preparing vacant units, and maintaining common areas, with an emphasis on safety and resident satisfaction.

You will respond to after-hours emergencies on a rotating schedule, work with the Property Manager, and use hand and power tools to fix plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and appliance issues.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in apartment or building maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance repair.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned maintenance work orders promptly and effectively.
• Perform apartment turns to prepare units for new residents.
• Maintain common areas of the building (hallways, lobbies, laundry rooms, amenities).
• Conduct pool and seasonal amenity maintenance, including cleaning and basic checks.
• Identify and resolve minor plumbing and electrical issues.
• Perform light carpentry, painting, drywall repairs, and general building repairs.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on equipment and systems.
• Respond to on-call, after-hours maintenance emergencies on a rotating schedule.
• Collaborate with the Property Manager and team to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and guests.

Schedule: Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 3:30pm. It is also required to be available to respond to emergencies after hours.
