POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for directing and managing the maintenance of building, property, facilities equipment, and manufacturing equipment. This position is responsible for executing all daily maintenance functions, all preventive maintenance functions, and will ensure the safe and optimum utilization of all resources, including personnel, equipment, materials, and supplies in order to achieve the highest level of internal and external customer satisfaction, productivity, and efficiency. Responsibilities involve taking an active leadership role in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) for a safety-first culture, as well as promoting a Lean environment that supports company objectives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates company values and shares the organizational commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and a high-performance workforce through positive employee relations.

· Follows all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, practices, protocols, and regulations. Proactively addresses any potential EHS issues and reports any unsafe conditions. Sets a positive example regarding EHS and a safety-first culture.

· Effectively manages a team of maintenance mechanics and technicians in a 3-shift operation to ensure that the maintenance team is optimized in terms of skills, knowledge, time, etc., and that policies, practices, and protocols are followed, and work is performed in a safe, professional, timely, and efficient manner.

· Collaborates with Production Planning and Operations to optimize maintenance scheduling and oversees the maintenance function related to scheduling and managing employees and other resources (contractors) for preventive and corrective (repair) maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment in order to maximize uptime and limit interruptions to customer on-time delivery.

· Effectively utilizes the CMMS; schedules and assigns work (preventive and corrective) and manages the performance of all Maintenance employees, including ensuring adherence to company safety and other policies, internal and external laws regulations, provision of training, and providing regular feedback including the performance appraisal process.

· Participates in the selection and hiring process to ensure candidates have the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required for the position being filled.

· Identifies training needs, trains, or ensures training of new and existing employees to ensure the Maintenance team has the appropriate level and mix of knowledge and skills, as well as opportunities for professional development.

· Purchases tools, equipment, materials, and services (including maintaining a system for sourcing, specifying, qualifying, and maintaining) to support the maintenance supplies and materials inventory and critical spares inventory for urgent and/or short-term requests. This includes immediate need (machine down) and short-term requests where materials, etc. are not all available. Follows company protocol for capital expenditures or other items outside of spending authorization. Ensures adequate supply of

replacement parts, critical spares, supplies and materials, to support an efficient and productive operation and minimize downtime.

· Responsible for referencing, maintaining, and updating all equipment related documentation, including specifications, manuals, and equipment files to ensure current and accurate information.

· Inspects the manufacturing equipment on a weekly basis to ensure it is functioning properly and safely; collaborates with the engineering staff to ensure any equipment issues are immediately attended to and effectively solved.

· Improves preventive maintenance practices through failure identification and corrective actions.

· Ensures that repairs are made precisely, and equipment availability is maximized for operations.

· Compile operation statistics and logistics and organize them into useful reporting to identify inefficiencies and areas that can be improved; make weekly suggestions for continuous improvement. Present department metrics in daily/weekly meetings.

· Participate in the hiring decision-making process and interviews to ensure candidates hold adequate knowledge in the manufacturing field; train new recruits and ensure existing employees have the required understanding of safety protocols.

· Communicate equipment repair status regularly to keep operations team informed

· Reviews machine prints to acquire part numbers needed for repairs and order as needed.

General Responsibilities:

· Performs other responsibilities as assigned and/or as needed to support company objectives.

· Travels as required to our Pulaski, Virginia location (approximately 10-15%).

· Meets on-site and other attendance requirements to effectively build positive relationships and interact with all employees.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Work Experience

· Minimum 5 years of experience in multi-craft maintenance in a precision machining or similar industrial environment.

· Minimum 5 years of experience managing a team of maintenance professionals.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a multi-shift supervisor role, preferred.

· Minimum of 3 years working in a lean environment.

Education and Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field strongly preferred

· High School diploma or equivalent, with post-secondary maintenance-related education (related certifications or other skills-based training is required.

· Demonstrated safety-first orientation with ability to lead and influence others in this area.

· Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) with employees at all levels of the company, with orientation toward internal and external service, as well as communicate professionally and effectively with vendors, contractors, and service providers.

· Strong planning and organizational skills to ensure effective completion of work with the least disruption to production and customer service as possible.

· Ability to understand the cost of maintenance, both in downtime and hard costs associated with related purchasing and inventory control, and ability to maintain a high degree of fiscal responsibility.

· Proficient computer skills to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MPulse (or similar CMMS) maintenance software.

· Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and manuals and troubleshoot equipment.

· High degree of mechanical and electrical aptitude.

· Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of preventive maintenance systems, practices, and procedures, with strong maintenance planning and scheduling capabilities.

· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform the following physical demands with or without accommodation:

· Sit at a desk for several hours, constantly performing repetitive motions to use a personal computer and other office equipment, as well as walking around an office and industrial environment.

· Position may require person to be on their feet to 8-10 hours standing or walking in a heavy manufacturing environment, constantly performing regularly scheduled maintenance duties.

· Ability to perform physical activities related to traveling, such as driving.

· Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, welding/burning equipment.

· Ability to be certified for operation of various powered industrial trucks and other material handling equipment, such as lifts, hoists/cranes.

· Ability to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds on an occasional basis.

· Ability to see and hear in order to perform the functions of this position.

· Ability to speak, write and understand English fluently.
