Job summary

Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey is looking for a full-time Maintenance Superintendent at their Piscataway location. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician or 2 years as a maintenance superintendent, handling day-to-day maintenance tasks and emergencies independently.

Job description

Our Piscataway location has a full‑time opportunity for a talented Maintenance Superintendent! Apartment may be available for this position.

In this role, you will:

• Work daily with the Maintenance Software application to efficiently coordinate day to day work order processing and completion.
• Handle emergencies without supervision.
• Interact with outside agencies, police, fire department, building inspectors, and contractors.
• Communicate effectively with residents.
• Arrange and ensure that all housekeeping tasks are completed, including garbage and recycle pickup, mopping and sweeping of hallways and stairways.
• Operate and maintain boilers, pumps, valves, gauges, and related equipment; continuously check all mechanical devices and controls to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Perform necessary repairs to apartments and common areas requested in work orders issued by the manager; inspect apartments after tenant move‑in and move‑out.

Basic Qualifications

• Skills: reading, writing, analysis, purchasing, contract negotiation, supervision, Word, Excel, and any systems established by LSMNJ.
• Experience: 5 years as a maintenance technician or 2 years as a maintenance superintendent or supervisor.
• Education/Training/Certifications: High School Diploma required. Must have a clean driving record.
• Bi‑lingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
