The City of Raleigh Public Utilities Department, also known as Raleigh Water, provides water and sewer services to approximately 198,000 metered customers and a service population of about 600,000 in Raleigh, Garner, Wake Forest, Rolesville, Knightdale, Wendell, and Zebulon. Our mission is to deliver safe, sustainable water services while safeguarding public health and supporting community vitality.
This role functions as the primary crew leader and heavy equipment operator within the Sewer Maintenance Division's Repair Program. Responsibilities include supervising crews, operating heavy equipment, planning jobs, and supporting manual labor tasks related to sewer system repairs and emergency responses.
1715 Wendell Blvd, Wendell, NC, reporting to Public Utilities Water Distribution.
Hours are 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with on-call duties including paid standby and potential overtime. The position involves semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, heavy equipment operation, manual labor, and emergency response support.
High School Diploma or GED plus four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid North Carolina driver's license and certifications are required or obtainable within specified timeframes.
Positions require physical activity including standing, walking, lifting, and exposure to outdoor conditions and noise.
