Bird is seeking a Maintenance Specialist in San Francisco to keep its electric micro-mobility fleet in top condition. You will perform mechanical and electrical repairs, manage charging schedules, and help with hardware modifications in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Responsibilities

  • Repair mechanical components to meet functional specifications (brakes, forks, handlebars).
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems (brain, battery, LCD, wiring).
  • Meet vehicle charging schedule, move pallets, plug/unplug vehicles.
  • Hardware modification and troubleshooting.
  • Work with cross-functional Bird teams to meet business objectives.
  • Validate functionality of new or repaired vehicles to meet requirements.
  • Input/output materials to/from facility and coordinate with drivers.
  • Track production equipment and spare parts; manage inventory.
  • Adhere to SOPs, maintain 5S standards, and follow Safety Rules.

Job Summary

This hands-on role supports Bird’s vehicle operations within one of our central and/or service facilities. Including (but not limited to) the following:

Vehicle
  • Repair: Mechanical
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing vehicle issues and repairing vehicles to meet functional specifications. Repairs include (but are not limited to) brakes, front forks, handlebar components, etc.
  • Repair: Electrical
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing vehicle issues and repairing vehicles to meeting functional specifications. Repairs include (but are not limited to) vehicle “Brain”, battery, LCD screen, wiring, etc.
  • Charging
  • Responsible for meeting the vehicle charging schedule, which includes: moving vehicle pallets to and from charging areas, plugging-in/unplugging vehicles, and indicating vehicle charge date
  • Hardware modification and troubleshooting
  • Working with cross-functional Bird teams to develop processes and modify vehicles to meet business objectives
Quality control
  • Responsible for validating that the functionality of new or repaired vehicles to meet technical/business requirements
Shipping/receiving
  • Responsible for the input and output for materials delivered to or shipping from the facility, communicate with delivery drivers, track orders via our internal systems, and load and unload trucks
Inventory Management
  • Responsible for the tracking production equipment and materials in the facility, which includes spare parts, production assembly components, tools, safety equipment, computers, etc.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence of process SOPs and maintain 5S standards for designated work area
  • Work in a safe manner, following the departmental Safety Rules, including use of PPE, reporting any unsafe conditions/practices observed and reporting any accidents or injuries on the date of the incident
  • Escalate questions regarding tools and processes to Supervisors
Must Haves:

  • Willing to perform heavy or repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours/day
