Bensalem Township School District is seeking a Maintenance Specialist-Plumber (anticipated) to help maintain district facilities in peak operating condition. The role reports to the Custodial/Maintenance Supervisor and may supervise other staff, ensuring work is completed safely and on time.

Responsibilities include performing repairs, implementing preventive maintenance, supervising staff, documenting work and materials, ordering supplies, and upholding safety standards to support uninterrupted

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of basic supervisory experience.
  • Appropriate license or certification within the specialist's area of expertise.
  • Valid Class I Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Performs repairs and maintenance to district facilities within the specialist's area of expertise.
  • Establishes and conducts a preventive maintenance program within primary area of expertise.
  • Supervises general maintenance staff when assigned.
  • Lays out work details; instructs staff; inspects and evaluates work quality.

POSITION TITLE:

Maintenance Specialist-Plumber (Anticipcated)

REPORTS TO:

The Maintenance Specialist is directly responsible to the Custodial/Maintenance Supervisor, or in his absence, to the Facilities Engineer or his designee. Maintenance Specialists are responsible for work and workers assigned to them.

POSITION GOAL:

To maintain the school district facilities in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of these facilities may be made at all times.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

Possess appropriate level of education and experience to perform the

essential duties relative to the position.

Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, safety manuals, etc. and to generate routine reports and correspondence pertinent to the essential job duties.

Ability to communicate and to demonstrate interpersonal skills effectively in dealing with students, staff, parents, community members, and educational agencies as related to performance of the duties of the position.

Ability to perform mathematical operations and to apply mechanical skills and technical skills to accomplish the essential duties of the position.

Ability to interpret and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to perform routine tasks cooperatively and to adjust to interruptions, variables, or changes in standardized situations.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of basic supervisory experience.
  • Appropriate license or certification within the specialist's area of expertise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs needed repairs and maintenance to district facilities within the Maintenance Specialist's area of expertise.
  • Establishes and conducts an ongoing preventive maintenance program within the primary area of expertise and other related areas.
  • Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects.
  • Supervises general maintenance staff personnel when such are assigned to work with the Maintenance Specialist.
  • Lays out work details; instructs assigned general maintenance staff; inspects completed work; evaluates staff in terms of quality and quantity of work.
  • Prepares reports on work completed, materials used, and labor expended.
  • Orders materials as necessary and makes recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase.
  • Emphasizes safety practices on the job and maintains safe working conditions.
  • Maintains the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned or necessary for an efficient operation.
