Job Summary: The Maintenance Specialist II is responsible for performing general and preventive maintenance, construction, and repair duties of assigned City equipment, property including streets, coverts, drainage systems, facilities, and buildings. The Maintenance Specialist II may assist with site restoration, solid waste, streets and drainage, or water/wastewater projects. They may also be assigned a Maintenance Specialist I for assistance. Tasks may be performed in all weather conditions.

Minimum Job Requirements:

1. High School Diploma or GED
2. At least two years of hands-on/outside work experience
3. A valid driver’s license; a Class B CDL may be required depending on the assignment

Essential Job Functions:

• Operate and maintain a variety of power tools, equipment, vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks to perform duties such as material pickup/delivery, debris/trash removal, and hazardous material disposal. Maintain daily upkeep of City rights-of-way, properties, and vehicles.
• Perform routine construction, maintenance, and repairs on streets, drainage systems, facilities, equipment, and buildings. Update work order and project records.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and City vehicles and equipment.
• Respond to road service and traffic control needs, including during hazardous or severe weather conditions.
• Assist with repairs, inspections, excavation, and site restoration of City water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull over 50 pounds, with occasional lifting over 100 pounds. The role involves exposure to extreme weather, noise, moving mechanical parts, dirt, dust, and odors. Use of protective gear such as footwear, eyewear, and reflective clothing is required. The position includes on-call rotations and emergency response duties.
