About The Role

Maintenance Associate repairs, installs, and maintains machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments, following specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings, using hand tools, power tools, hoist, crane, and measuring and testing instruments. They can work in commercial, industrial, or residential spaces, performing maintenance duties themselves or contracting service providers. They also carry out preventative maintenance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Inspect and test machinery and equipment using electrical and electronic test equipment.
• Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions, and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
• Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts, following specifications and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using rags, brushes, and grease gun.
• Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment.
• Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
• Assess procedures and make recommendations for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Relevant licenses and certificates may be required.
• Courses in mechanical drawing, woodworking, electricity, and blueprint reading would be advantageous.
• Repair work experience.
• Physical strength and good hand-eye coordination.
• Excellent customer service and negotiation skills.
• Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems (110/240/480 electrical, heating, CNC‑machining, hoists‑pneumatics, and pump‑hydraulics).
• Starting at $20.00 per hour and up. Pay based on experience.
