Job summary

Republic Services in Memphis, TN seeks a Maintenance Technician A to perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic and electrical systems. Duties include engine diagnostics, HVAC, aftertreatment, and drive‑train work.

You will work with state‑of‑the‑art equipment under supervision, supporting drivers on a single fleet. ASE certifications and CDL experience are a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose multi‑system issues and demonstrate technical expertise.
• 5–7 years of experience as a technician working on heavy‑duty trucks.
• Inspections and repairs without supervision in heavy truck or automotive systems.
• ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1–T8) are a plus but not required.
• LNG and/or CNG experience is a plus but not required.
• CDL B or higher is a plus but not required.

Position Summary

With direct supervision from a Lead Technician, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician A performs repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, refuse bodies with control, hydraulic, and electrical systems, air brake systems, general engine work, HVAC components, and suspension, drive train and steering systems. The role supports drivers on a single fleet with state‑of‑the‑art equipment.

Principal Responsibilities

• Maintains advanced knowledge of and strong skill proficiency in vehicle components and systems, with the ability to perform complex repair/maintenance functions onsite.
• Chassis component repair and maintenance.
• Refuse bodies, control, hydraulic and electrical systems; air and hydraulic braking systems.
• Engine repair and diagnostics.
• Complete understanding of diesel fuel systems and fuel system diagnostics.
• Suspension, drivetrain and steering systems.
• Heating and air conditioning system diagnostics and repair.
• Aftertreatment systems, REGEN and diagnostics.
• Diagnose electrical concerns with scan tools.
• Line maintenance, welding and fabrication.
• Identify the source of malfunctions using electronic tools.
• Complete applicable company training programs.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose multi‑system issues and consistently demonstrate technical expertise.
• 5–7 years of experience as a technician working on heavy‑duty trucks.
• Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some heavy truck or automotive systems: suspensions & steering, general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, diesel emissions.
• ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1–T8) are a plus but not required.
• LNG and/or CNG experience is a plus but not required.
• Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
• Preferred CDL B.
