Benton Communities in Columbia, Maryland is seeking a Service Technician to perform preventive and maintenance tasks across the apartment community, following directions from the Service or Community Manager and assisting the Assistant Community Manager when needed.

You will handle routine repairs in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and other maintenance duties, address urgent issues like floods, document deficiencies, and collaborate with contractors to keep buildings and grounds safe and

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of relevant experience and/or training.
• Proficient communication with residents and team members is essential.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Ability to comprehend simple written sentences and use units of weight, volume, and distance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and maintenance tasks for the apartment community and residents.
• Carry out basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, floor, window/glass repairs and related tasks.
• Tackle urgent situations like sewer backups or water leaks and ensure prompt cleanup.
• Document observed deficiencies with locations and recommendations and report to the Community Manager.
• Report substandard housekeeping or unit damage while performing maintenance tasks.
• Keep detailed logs of preventive maintenance and inventories; collaborate with contractors for major repairs.
• Oversee snow removal from walkways and communal areas and apply de-icer as needed.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, manuals, inventories and warranties.
