Job summary

Kenworth Truck Company, a PACCAR division, seeks a Maintenance Manager to lead a large manufacturing area and drive maintenance objectives. You will direct unit managers, plan schedules, and ensure uptime with strong leadership and safety.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, 1–3 years of maintenance experience, Six Sigma training, and a Maintenance Manager certification. You’ll manage staffing, training, and budgets while promoting continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Directs unit managers in a large manufacturing area to attain maintenance objectives.
• Plan, organize, and implement procedures to meet maintenance schedules.
• Manage maintenance efforts and initiate improvements in equipment and efficiency.
• Assist in managing maintenance BPO contracts for the site.
• Direct proper staffing, training, motivation and safety of assigned employees.
• Prepare reports for management and coordinate activities with other departments.
• Manage process improvement efforts such as Six Sigma, 5S, kaizen events.
• Provide support for daily maintenance operations and reliability initiatives.
• Recommend capital expenditure improvements.
• Assist in establishment of department budget & long-term leadership goals.
• Provide coverage for area manager.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

NATURE OF DUTIES:

DIRECTS UNIT MANAGERS IN A LARGE MANUFACTURING AREA TO ATTAIN MAINTENANCE OBJECTIVES. THE SECTION MANAGER MUST BE SELF MOTIVATED AND LEAD BY GIVING DIRECTION AND BY EXAMPLE. QUICK ADAPTATION TO CHANGE IS A MUST.

• ASSIGNS WORK TO SALARIED SHOP PERSONNEL BY INSTRUCTING EXEMPT PERSONNEL IN ACCORDANCE WITH MAINTENANCE OBJECTIVES FOR UPTIME.
• PLANS, ORGANIZES, AND IMPLEMENTS PROCEDURES TO MEET MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES.
• MANAGES MAINTENANCE EFFORTS, RECOMMENDS, OR INITIATES IMPROVEMENTS IN EQUIPMENT, OPERATING EFFICIENCY AND WORKING CONDITIONS.
• ASSIST IN MANAGING MAINTENANCE BPO CONTRACTS FOR THE SITE
• DIRECTS PROPER STAFFING, TRAINING, MOTIVATION AND SAFETY OF ASSIGNED EMPLOYEES,
• INITIATES OR APPROVES PERSONNEL ACTIONS INCLUDING PROMOTIONS, TRANSFERS, DISCIPLINARY MEASURES, ETC., IN ACCORDANCE WITH COMPANY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
• PREPARES OR DIRECTS PREPARATION OF REPORTS FOR MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATES ACTIVITIES WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AS NECESSARY.
• MANAGES PROCESS IMPROVEMENT EFFORTS SUCH AS: SIX SIGMA, 5S, 3/10 PROGRAM AND KAIZEN EVENTS
• PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR DAILY MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS AND RELIABILITY INITIATIVES
