Job summary

PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus, MS is seeking a Unit Manager - Facilities to lead maintenance and facilities operations across multiple shifts. The role emphasizes uptime, proactive planning, and a strong focus on safety and efficiency within a large, automated production environment.

The ideal candidate will bring a technical engineering/maintenance background, supervisory experience, and knowledge of reliability practices, Lean/Six Sigma, and complex electrical/HVAC systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred.
  • CMRP Certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience in a team environment required.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Front-line supervisory leadership in a maintenance environment required.
  • Engineering/Maintenance background in large automated production operations required.
  • Knowledge of industrial systems and maintenance including electrical, PLC/HMI, HVAC, hydraulics, boiler, conveyance, and hoists.
  • Strong knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance.
  • Familiar with MS air, hazardous waste generation and water permits/regulations.
  • Ability to work in an inclusive team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • PLC methodology and high-level control design is a plus.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Maintenance and Facility equipment upkeep for PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus, MS.
  • Maintain daily facility readiness of all equipment supporting operations.
  • Staffing needs: assign work, train subordinates, promotions and transfers.
  • Support lifecycle management of facility equipment with facilities management and engineering.
  • Ensure reliability plans with Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production.
  • Coordinate work orders, reliability, and maintainability of grounds, equipment, processes, utilities, and fire safety systems.
  • Identify downtime reduction and cost reduction projects with the maintenance team.
  • Support Six Sigma and Lean initiatives and tools.
  • Support MRO spare parts offsite transport for uptime.
  • Support wastewater equipment upkeep for environmental compliance.

Unit Manager - Facilities (SG 23)

Requisition Summary

Provides leadership and direction for successfully implementing and sustaining maintenance/ facilities organizational skill sets and programs to identify, manage, and improve equipment and facility related operations. Oversee Facilities Maintenance daily operations to implement proactive plans to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.

Successful candidate must be willing to work multiple shifts, i.e., day, evening, and/or night, as needed.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for the Maintenance and Facility equipment upkeep for PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus, MS.
  • Responsible for maintaining daily facility readiness of all equipment that support operations.
  • Support staffing needs to meet organizational goals. Includes assigning work along with developing/training subordinates and initiating personnel actions such as promotions and transfers.
  • Support facilities management and engineering with managing the life cycle of facility equipment.
  • Ensure reliability plans on new and existing equipment are implemented in conjunction with Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production.
  • Establishes and oversees efforts to ensure work order coordination, reliability, and maintainability of grounds, equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and fire safety systems.
  • Identifies and assigns downtime reduction and cost reduction projects with the maintenance team.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement utilizing Six Sigma and other Lean initiatives and tools.
  • Support MRO spare parts offsite transporting as needed for operational equipment uptime.
  • Support wastewater equipment upkeep to maintain efficiency as needed for environmental compliance.
Qualifications & Skill
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related degree and/or experience is preferred.
  • CMRP Certification (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) is preferred.
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience in a team environment is required.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated leadership in front-line supervisory experience in a maintenance environment is required.
  • Engineering/Maintenance background or experience related to large, automated production operations required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industrial systems and maintenance to include but not limited to high and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, PLC and HMI Automation systems, HVAC, plumbing, hydraulic systems, boiler systems, industrial conveyance systems, and hoists.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated the use of Reliability Centered Maintenance practices and principles.
  • Familiar with air, hazardous waste generation, and water management permits and regulations in the state of MS.
  • Ability to operate and actively participate in an inclusive team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience and knowledge in PLC methodology and high-level control’s function and design is a plus.
  • Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience is a plus.
