Job description

Position Summary, Duties And Responsibilities

General ground and landscape maintenance. Duties include but are not limited to: Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Worker. Operates mowers and small equipment to maintain Apex parks and grounds. Spray weeds. Plant flowers and bushes. Repair irrigation systems. Collect trash from receptacles. Pick up litter. Maintain equipment. Assist with response to weather events. Other related duties.

  • This position will perform ground maintenance tasks (mow, trim, prune, plant, and maintain landscape materials)
  • The Landscape/Grounds Worker will respond to and resolve work requests, complaints, or other conditions as they arise.
  • The Landscape/Grounds Worker will be expected to assist other maintenance staff with facility repairs when weather precludes outdoor work.
  • As a member of the district services division this position will have direct contact with other district staff and guest to resolve maintenance needs. It will be expected that all interaction represents the district services division and the district in a positive manner.
Job Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess current and valid Colorado driver's license.
  • Good working knowledge of small hand tools.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to use vehicles and tractors.
  • Basic knowledge of walk behind and riding lawn mowers, trimmers and other lawn equipment.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and make good decisions in a stressful situation.
  • Able to adjust to frequent changes in job priorities and situations demanding immediate attention.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent or current student.
Work Environment
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, kneel.
  • Job is outside 85% of the time in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and more occasionally.
  • Must be able to report any problems and manage properties.
  • Must be able to work well without constant supervision.
    Physical Activity(s):
    • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Requires adequate hearing to recognize and respond to sounds, signals, or distress in a variety of environments.
    • Ability to reach, grasp, and handle small objects, tools, or equipment with precision.
