Job summary

DTN is seeking a Repairs & Compliance Technician in Lansing, MI. You will execute and verify corrective actions from compliance inspections, ensure repairs meet code, and support first-pass re-inspections.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years' of experience in property maintenance or facilities operations (multifamily or student housing experience preferred).
  • Working knowledge of local building codes, maintenance standards, and inspection processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret inspection reports and work orders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with accountability and follow-through.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software.
  • Desire to provide great customer outcomes.
  • Experience using industry software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review inspection reports and ensure all cited items are assigned, addressed, and repaired within city deadlines.
  • Complete all corrective actions per code and with quality workmanship.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams and external vendors to complete actions efficiently.
  • Conduct property site visits to verify repairs and document with photos/reports.
  • Prepare properties for re-inspections and support scheduling of city follow-ups.
  • Maintain tracking of repairs, costs, and completion status in company systems.
  • Report recurring issues or code risks to leadership.
  • Assist in developing preventative maintenance plans to reduce repeat violations.

Job Title: Repairs & Compliance Technician Reports to: Property Inspection Compliance Coordinator

As the Repairs & Compliance Technician, you will influence and guide the experience for those that visit a DTN owned or managed community.

Job Summary

The Repairs & Compliance Technician is responsible for executing and verifying all corrective actions related to compliance inspections. This role ensures repairs are completed to code, re-inspections are passed on the first attempt, and all documentation is accurately maintained. The position is field-based, requiring close coordination with maintenance teams, vendors, and the Compliance Coordinator & Communications Lead.

As a Repairs & Compliance Technician, your primary responsibilities include:
  • Review inspection reports and ensure all cited items are assigned, addressed, and repairedwithin city deadlines
  • Complete all corrective actions per code and with great quality of work
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams and external vendors when necessary to complete corrective actions efficiently
  • Conduct property site visits to verify repairs, ensure compliance with inspection standards, and document completion with photos or reports
  • Prepare properties for re-inspections and support the scheduling and coordination of city follow ups
  • Maintain accurate tracking of repairs, costs, and completion status in company systems
  • Report any recurring issues, potential code risks, or systemic maintenance deficiencies to leadership
  • Assist in developing preventative maintenance plans to reduce repeat violations
Core Candidate Qualities:
  • 2-4 years' of experience in property maintenance or facilities operations (multifamily or student housing experience preferred)
