Job summary

Qualifications

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Cut grass, trim shrubbery, perform landscaping tasks, and clear snow and debris from outdoor areas.
• Follow safety procedures, report hazards, maintain tools, and support facility quality improvement efforts.

This position involves hands-on repair and maintenance work that keeps the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center operating smoothly. The role covers a wide range of tasks that support the function and upkeep of facility buildings and equipment. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Carpentry Work:Perform carpentry tasks such as repairing doors and furniture, fabricating partitions, and using power tools
• Electrical Repairs:Install and repair electrical circuits, outlets, lighting fixtures, fans, and motors
• Plumbing Tasks:Repair plumbing fixtures, clear clogged drains, and install pipe for water and steam lines
• Building Comfort Maintenance:Maintain and repair heating, cooling, and refrigeration units of various types
• Groundskeeping Work:Cut grass, trim shrubbery, perform landscaping tasks, and clear snow and debris from outdoor areas
• Safety Practices:Follow safety procedures, report hazards, maintain tools, and support facility quality improvement efforts

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

• You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirement:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• Willingness to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania
• Formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
• Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
• Experience repairing heating lines and fan coil units
• Experience in plumbing repairs
• Experience in electrical repairs
• Experience maintaining and repairing air conditioning and heating units
