Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Maintenance Repairman 2 at Carlisle Readiness Center. You will help keep the facility safe, clean, and functioning by performing a variety of repair tasks across multiple building systems.

The role covers painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and general upkeep. Applicants should have multi-trade experience and be able to work 7.5 hours a day, 5 days a week, with potential schedule changes based on needs.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 or equivalent federal/state job title.
  • Four years of building and plant maintenance experience across at least two trades (building/electrical/mechanical).
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that covers required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair building systems to ensure safety, function, and upkeep of Carlisle Readiness Center.
  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces; prepare surfaces and apply paint.
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures and piping.
  • Perform rough and finish carpentry, room remodeling, and repairs.
  • Install, replace, and maintain electrical circuits and lighting.
  • Service heating, cooling, ventilation, and automated building systems (HVAC).
  • General maintenance including cleaning and groundskeeping.

THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on maintaining and repairing many building systems to help the Carlisle Readiness Center operate smoothly. The position covers a wide range of tasks that support the facility's safety, function, and upkeep. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Painting Work: Prepare surfaces and apply interior and exterior paint
  • Plumbing Tasks: Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fixtures, and related components
  • Carpentry Skills: Perform rough and finish carpentry, including room remodeling and repairs
  • Electrical Support: Install, replace, and maintain circuits, lighting, and related systems
  • HVAC and Systems: Service heating, cooling, ventilation, and automated building systems
  • Facility Upkeep: Carry out cleaning, grounds keeping, masonry, and other general maintenance
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Travel: As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement
  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
