Job summary

The Mennel Milling Company in Toledo, OH is seeking a maintenance technician to sustain milling operations. You will meet machinery inspection, maintenance, and repair requirements for the night shift (11PM-7AM), while supporting new equipment installations for mill applications.

Qualifications

  • Electrician's certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules and sanitation guidelines and maintain audit-ready condition.
  • Test, install and repair plant equipment; perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Perform electrical inspection, repair and troubleshooting on production equipment.
  • Perform basic mechanical work including sheet metal, welding, pipefitting.
  • Document work and communicate activities to appropriate personnel.
  • Provide on-call emergency repair service for all mill areas.

JOB SUMMARY

In this role, you will help sustain Mennel’s tradition of excellence established in 1886 as well as support our food safety programs and mission to reliably deliver superior quality, uniformity, and service. This position is responsible for meeting machinery inspection, maintenance, and repair requirements for the assigned shift. Also provides mechanical and electrical technical assistance to install new machinery for Mill applications.

PRIMARY WORK SHIFT

This position works night shift; 11PM- 7AM.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodation.

  • Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions. Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.
  • Tests, installsand repairs plant equipment and machinery. Performs preventive maintenance and safety inspections on the equipment and machinery.
  • Performs electrical inspection, repair and troubleshooting on production and support equipment and plant power systems (PLC, I/O, electronics, motors, and instruments).
  • Performs basic mechanical work as required, including but not limited to sheet metal layout, fabrication, buildings and grounds, weights and scales, welding, pipefitting,
  • Documentswork performed andcommunicateswork activities to appropriate personnel.
  • Reads, studies and reviews manuals, schematics and drawings and relevant literature to stay current on new equipment and the updating of existing equipment.
  • Provideson-call emergency repair service for all areas of the mill.
  • Takeswork assignments from the Maintenance Reliability Planner.
  • Consults with immediate supervisor concerning issues, unusual problems or developments and clarification on direction and scope of efforts.
  • Considerable care necessary to prevent accidents resulting in permanent disability
  • Uses test instruments, programming devices, personal computers, programming and diagnostic software, measuring devices, hand tools, power tools.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have any direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.

  • A minimum of aHighschool diploma or GED isrequired
  • At least 5 years of industrial maintenance work experience, including both electrical and mechanical.
  • Candidates must have documented Electrician’s certification
  • Ability to work any shift, weekends, & overtime to support business needs, sometimes on short notice.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Abilitytoreadandcomprehendsimpleinstructions,shortcorrespondence,memos,proceduresandplans. Abilityto write, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or data inone-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and managers.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Must use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to conditions that are typical to a fast- paced manufacturing environment, including: moving equipment and machinery, dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions; employee must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in the presence of airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment usually requires the use of hearing protection.Work involves exposure to common wheat allergens.
  • Moderate exposure to dusty and dirty work conditions and seasonal weather extremes (work is both inside and outside).
  • Must be able tolift upto 50 lbs.
