Job summary

The City of Lincoln & Lancaster County's Lincoln Parks and Recreation is hiring a Maintenance Repair Worker I for Air Park Community Center and Williams Branch Library. This hands-on role keeps our facilities and grounds clean, safe, and welcoming, with duties in custodial work, basic repairs, and grounds upkeep.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and opportunities to learn trades, earn certifications, and contribute to a supportive team that serves the community

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of maintenance, repair, and construction experience across crafts (carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical repair).
• Equivalent training/experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Inspect facility spaces and building systems.
• Complete minor repairs.
• Maintain indoor and outdoor cleanliness.
• Keep equipment and landscaping in good working condition.
• Perform routine custodial care, floor maintenance, and trash removal.
• Provide grounds upkeep: mowing, trimming, weeding, clearing walkways.
• Perform basic HVAC, plumbing, and electrical maintenance.
• Maintain safety standards and use tools responsibly.
• Organize supplies and assist with program preparations.

Lincoln Parks and Recreation is hiring a Maintenance Repair Worker Ifor Air Park Community Center and Williams Branch Library. This is a hands-on role focused on keeping our facility and grounds in excellent condition so the community experiences a space that is clean, safe, and welcoming. We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable individual with experience in custodial work, general building repair, groundskeeping, and basic HVAC knowledge. The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, planning work efficiently, communicating clearly, and contributing to a positive team culture where everyone supports one another.

What You'll Do

This position plays a key part in the daily functioning and appearance of Air Park Community Center and Williams Branch Library. The Maintenance Repair Worker will:

• Inspect facility spaces and building systems.
• Complete minor repairs.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Seasonal adjustments of the schedule may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent
• Six months of experience in a variety of maintenance, repair, and construction activities in any one or more of the craft disciplines including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical repair and related disciplines

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.
