Job summary

KLN Family Brands seeks a Maintenance & Reliability Technician for its Delano, MN facility. You will perform routine and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, ensure safety and quality, and support line setups and changeovers to keep production running smoothly.

Ideal candidates bring multi-skill maintenance experience, knowledge of electrical and mechanical drawings, and familiarity with CMMS and TPM practices.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in maintenance in manufacturing or military environment OR 2-year degree in Electrical/Industrial Technology.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with single and 3-phase electrical repair up to 480 V.
  • Experience with fabrication and welding.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes and conveyors.
  • Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Able to work in high and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on equipment including facility and utility systems, manufacturing equipment, tanks, vessels, piping, silos, process controls, waste treatment, packaging machines.
  • Participate in FMEA, RCA and CI to improve asset reliability and product quality.
  • Conduct testing (ultrasonic, vibration, thermography) and record data on rotating, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain spare parts and shop inventory via MRO processes and CMMS.
  • Assist production with line setups, product changeovers and autonomous maintenance.
  • Support TPM, 6S and GMP practices across the plant.
  • Document work history and asset performance in CMMS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

We’re now hiring a Maintenance & Reliability Technician to support our Delano MN Pet Food Treats and Canning Facility. The full-time employee in this position will ensure plant assets operate in a safe and reliable manner, and to ensure product safety and quality through effective and efficient corrective and preventive maintenance practices.

Essential Duties
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations and safe job procedures, standard work processes, global food safety initiative (GFSI), good manufacturing practices (GMPs), and product quality requirements at all times.
  • At all times, actively engage in and live out Tuffy’s Treat Company values and guiding principles. Be a team member, treat each other with respect and a good steward of company resources.
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on various types of equipment including but not limited to: facility and utility systems, manufacturing equipment, tanks, vessels, piping, silos, process controls, waste treatment, packaging machines and mobile equipment.
  • Participate in and or facilitate failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement (CI) activities to ensure the highest levels of asset and process reliability, availability and quality.
  • Perform various testing (ultrasonic, vibration, thermography, etc.) and recording of data on rotating, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic control devices, safety systems, piping, vessels and other associated equipment and systems.
  • Maintain spare part and shop inventory through consistent and effective use of the maintenance, repair and operating supplies (MRO) process and system.
  • Consistently and effectively utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure asset performance and work history is accurately captured.
  • Assist production with line-setups, product change overs and autonomous maintenance activities.
  • Actively support equipment effectiveness (TPM), workplace organization (6S) and GMPs.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must have special boiler license or willing to obtain one - 2nd Class B Boilers License or higher is preferred
  • At least three (3) years of experience with installation, calibration, fabrication, and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing, industrial, or military environment or two (2) year degree or higher in Electrical Technology or Industrial Technology.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with single and 3-phase electrical repair and troubleshooting up to 480 V.
  • Experience with fabrication and welding.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatics systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues and making repairs on bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes and conveyors.
  • Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps.
  • Experience working with preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling.
  • Willing and able to work in high and/or confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical License
  • Experience troubleshooting Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Experience with Ladder Logic.
  • Experience with VFDs and motor control devices.
  • At least three (3) years industrial electrical repair experience and/or industrial maintenance experience.
  • At least one (1) year of experience troubleshooting PLCs.
  • Good hand – eye coordination
  • Willing and able to get along with others
  • Good judgment and reasoning abilities
  • Ability to drive forklift and pass certification exam
  • Basic computer skills
