Job summary

Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) is seeking a Maintenance Reliability Engineering Specialist to oversee automated plant upkeep and welding shop reliability. You will report task status, develop action plans to hit uptime targets, and design training plans for team members across sections.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in automated maintenance, PLC troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings. Domestic and international travel is required.

• Analyze welding shop downtime and develop improvement plans to increase equipment reliability.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule based on shift rotation and provide support for urgent issues.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by department management.

JOB TITLE

Equipment Maintenance Welding Maintenance Specialist

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Report on the status of assigned tasks at the beginning, during execution, and upon completion.
• Develop detailed action plans to achieve shop maintenance index targets, including:
  • Downtime management
  • Preventive Maintenance (PM) plan vs. actual performance
  • Equipment monitoring systems
  • Equipment improvements
  • Safety and environmental initiatives
• Prepare detailed training plans for each team member to achieve target skill levels within their respective sections.
• Develop and execute the annual operations plan and provide regular status updates on all assigned tasks.
• Support the Assistant Manager (AM) and Manager (MGR) in fostering teamwork through meetings, events, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Analyze welding shop downtime and develop improvement plans to increase equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
• Maintain a flexible work schedule based on departmental shift rotation requirements and provide support for urgent equipment issues outside normal working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by department management, including tasks that fall outside the regular scope of daily work activities.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

• More than 3 years maintenance career in the field of automated plants.
• Trouble shooting ability for PLC based automation equipment.
• Ability to understand drawing and specifications of electrical, mechanical systems.
• Domestic / International travel required.

Preferred:

• More than 1 years Welding shop maintenance career in major automotive industry
• Holders of mechanical or electrical certifications
• AB PLC program and control circuit experience
• Performed many equipment installations including design study, paperwork, inspection and testing new/modified equipment and processes
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Physical Demands

While in Office: This position is primarily sedentary and requires working at a desk and computer for extended periods. Responsibilities may include:

• Occasional lifting of office supplies (up to 15 pounds)
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and handling documents
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk within the office environment as needed

When in Production Area (if applicable)

• Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended durations
• Repeated lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of materials and products (up to 25-30 pounds)
• Manual dexterity for handling power tools, machinery, or production equipment
• Working in environments that may be noisy, hot, or require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Ability to climb ladders or stairs and operate equipment safely and effectively
• Capability to learn and work on multiple production processes, as required
• Adequate visual and auditory abilities to identify safety hazards and communicate clearly
