Job summary

Sterling Pharma Solutions in Wisconsin is hiring a Maintenance Reliability Engineer to drive root-cause investigations, document findings and present actionable solutions for equipment issues. You will lead small to medium projects, refurbishments, or upgrades of computer-based systems, and ensure compliance with cGMP and training requirements.

Summary of role

The Maintenance Reliability Engineer is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment by investigating, documenting and presenting solutions to internal equipment issues. The Maintenance Reliability Engineer will possess strong technical writing skills, the ability to perform investigations to find root cause of and generate actions to remediate repetitive failures or improve equipment or process performance. The Maintenance Reliability Engineer will take the lead on some small to medium-scale projects. Project types include to improve computer-based systems, equipment refurbishment or upgrades, and other facility-related improvements. The position requires superior leadership behaviors of Sterling’s core competencies and non-negotiables, as well as expertise in functional competencies included in this position profile.

Essential Functions
  • Design new systems or equipment, direct plant personnel in proper methods and procedures of these systems and equipment, and execute or oversee preventive maintenance and repair of assets.
  • Conducts analysis of problems and investigates to determine the required reliability approach for a particular situation/asset. Consideration given to cost limitations for equipment uptime/downtime, repair/replacement costs and weight, size and availability of materials/equipment.
  • Prepares technical reports with recommendations for solutions to technical equipment and process related problems. Supports investigation efforts and audit actions as well.
  • Manages small to medium scale engineering projects to improve computer-based systems, equipment refurbishment or upgrades, and other facility-related improvements.
  • Provides project status reports to various levels of management.
  • Plans, schedules and performs own work based upon assignments and priorities received; respond timely to on-demand assignments as they arise.
  • Collaborates with equipment users, engineers and technicians to accomplish individual and department tasks and goals.
  • Interfaces and communicates effectively with direct Supervisors/ Management, various levels of personnel within the company and with external manufacturers/suppliers/service vendors.
  • Utilizes learned knowledge, experience and skills to solve problems and execute objectives for self and other co-workers.
  • Reads, writes, and follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Work Instructions (WI’s).
  • Assesses equipment for correct preventive maintenance and critical spare parts.
  • Oversees vibration program and creates repair plans for problematic assets.
  • Maintains a safe, clean and organized work environment free of safety hazards.
  • Ensures timely completion and compliance with cGMP and all other relevant company training requirements.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering discipline (chemical, mechanical or electrical)
  • 1+ year of experience working in a GMP environment preferred
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, required.
Travel Requirement
  • Up to 5% domestic travel required
